Here’s what to see during the adventure trip to Messico:

  • Mexico City and surroundings: the capital city deserves a stop for a few days, both for the fact that it’s a huge city and for the many attractions such as the Centro Històrico, the Coyoacàn, San Angel and Xochimilco sites. In the surroundings, however, it’s worth visiting the colonial cities, the towns in the Michoacàn region and the Paricutìn volcano, until Guadalajara to admire the elegant palaces and the wall paintings.

Cenote: the Yucatan peninsula is covered with these underground caves with stalactites and stalagmites where you can swim

Food and Wine

What you could eat and drink in this country

Mexican cuisine is one of the best in the world, at least in my opinion.

And it’s one of the best street food.

We know many Mexican dishes, also imported into our restaurants, but it’s also worth tasting some unknown typical dishes.

Let’s see some specialties:

Tortas – stuffed sandwiches with a dressing very similar to that used for tacos.

Tamales – prepared with a corn paste mixed with lard, stuffed with meat or vegetables, wrapped in corn or banana leaves and steamed.

Gorditas – a sort of pie made with thick corn tortillas and generally filled with meat and cheese, but also with other ingredients of your choice. They can be fried or cooked in the comal, a traditional Mexican plate.

Cochinita pibil – typical from Yucatan. Pork, marinated in a citrus juice, jalapenos and annatto, is cooked wrapped in banana leaves and served with rice, beans and onions.

Marquesitas – they are a kind of crepes, made by crunchy pasta. They can be served sweet or seasoned with cheese.

Mexico is also home to some world-famous drinks and cocktails such as tequila or margarita. But besides these, there are other drinks that are worth trying:

Aguas de sabores – sweet non-alcoholic drinks flavored with different fruits and flavors.

Pozol – drink obtained from a mass of cooked and fermented corn, often sold by street vendors.

Michelada – alcoholic beer-based drink with spices, lime, chilli pepper, tomato sauce, mixed and served in a glass covered with salt.

Mezcal – distillate obtained from the agave plant and typical of the state of Oaxaca, it can reach an alcohol content of up to 50%. The cream variant has a lower alcohol content (20%), try the one flavored with maracuya.

When to go

The best time to travel to Mexico is between October and April, when it hardly ever rains.

The climate, however, may vary according to the area.

The rainy season starts in May and continues until August, September and October moving from south to north.

But in most cases, the rains, although abundant, last only one or two hours a day.

Try to get to know local people. It won’t be difficult because they are very cheerful, cordial and peaceful people.

Taste their cuisine. In Mexico I had the best grilled chicken of my life.
